Counselor-in-training Millburn 2025
$125.00
Our Counselor-In-Training (CIT) program is designed for young leaders who are eager to develop their leadership skills, gain experience in educational settings, and assist in creating a positive and engaging camp environment. This program provides an excellent opportunity for participants to learn and grow while contributing to our camp community.
Cost: $125 per week. The cost includes a camp t-shirt and all the materials for the week, plus hands-on training with our experienced staff.
Location: Accepted CITs will be placed at either CBI (Congregation B'nai Israel) in Millburn or at our regular 215 Millburn Avenue location, depending on need. We may not be able to accept CITs that are not able to be flexible on location.
Application Process: Submit resume to jennifer@geniusgems.com. Interview is required.
Eligibility: Students entering 9th or 10th grade.
Program Highlights:
-
Leadership Training: CITs will receive training in leadership, focusing on building confidence, communication skills, and the ability to effectively guide and mentor younger campers.
-
Educational Leadership Strategies: Participants will be introduced to educational leadership strategies, including techniques for leading group activities, facilitating discussions, and engaging campers in learning experiences.
-
Classroom Management: CITs will learn essential classroom management skills, including how to maintain a positive and productive environment, handle challenging behaviors, and support the diverse needs of campers.
-
Camp Group Assistance: CITs will assist camp staff as needed, helping to supervise activities, lead small groups, and ensure that all campers are having a safe and enjoyable experience.
Technology and Creative Projects:
-
3D Printing: If desired, each CIT will have the opportunity to design and 3D print one project per week. This hands-on experience allows them to explore their creativity while learning about 3D design and printing technology.
-
Take-Home Projects: CITs can select and design at least one take-home project to work on throughout the week. This project will be theirs to keep, providing a tangible reminder of their achievements.
-
Advanced Technology Applications: Depending on availability and interest, CITs may also learn how to use a laser cutter and other advanced technologies. This exposure helps them gain valuable skills in technology application and design.
Our CIT program is an enriching experience that combines leadership development, educational strategies, and creative exploration. CITs will leave the program with new skills, lasting friendships, and a deeper understanding of what it takes to be an effective leader in both educational and camp settings. This is a selective, applicant-only process.
