Coding and Robotics Winter 2022

Coding and Robotics K-2nd grade

Using robots such as Dash and Ozobot, and coding programs such as Scratch Jr. and LEGO Boost, students will be introduced to beginner computer science concepts. Students will also be introduced to algorithms, apps, and loops. This class is designed for beginner coding students. Students must be in kindergarten or older to join. Students that are 5 or 6 but not yet in kindergarten will be eligible to join once they are in kindergarten. The skills needed to join this class are geared for students that are already in kindergarten through 2nd grade.

Coding and Robotics 1st-3rd Grade Winter Session

Using robots such as Micro:bit, Sphero, Root robot, Dash, Ozobot and coding programs such as Scratch and LEGO Mindstorms, students will explore robotics and coding through games, while also learning specific computer science concepts and reinforcing math skills. Students will also be introduced to algorithms, sequencing, functions and conditional “if then” statements. This class is a continuation of the current session, but new students are welcome to join.  Students must be in 1st, 2nd or 3rd grade to participate.

Coding and Robotics: 3rd-5th Grade Winter Session

In this winter session of coding for students in 3rd-5th grade, students will focus on fluency in block coding languages such as LEGO Mindstorms, Micro:bit, advanced Scratch game design and an introduction to JavaScript. Students will utilize coding skills to design scenes, code their own games/apps, and code and build robots, in order to gain a strong foundation in block coding languages. Students will learn about algorithms, functions, loops, conditional statements, variables, loops and more. While this course is designed as a continuation of our fall session, it is open to new students interested in coding in 3rd-5th grade. 3rd graders wishing to join this course should have previous experience with coding.
