Coding Spring 2021

$275.00

Coding: 1st/2nd Grade

This coding class is a continuation of our winter coding session, however, new students are welcome to join. In this coding class, students will learn tools and concepts related to computer science. Using robots such as Sphero Bolt, Dash and Dot, and coding programs such as Scratch, Tynker and Hopscotch, students will explore robotics and coding through games, while also learning specific computer science concepts and reinforcing math skills, such as directionality and number recognition. Students will also be introduced to loops, functions and conditional “if then” statements.

Coding: 3rd-4th Grade

This 3rd/4th grade level class is a continuation of our current coding class, however, new students are welcome to join. In this coding class, students will focus on fluency in block coding languages such as Scratch and Tynker. Students will utilize coding skills to design scenes, code their own games, and code robots, in order to gain a strong foundation in block coding languages. Students will learn about real world applications of coding and try their hand at creating their own program. This class is designed for students with an interest in coding. Prior experience with coding is not necessary.

Coding: 4th-5th Grade

This 4th/5th grade class is a continuation of the current session, although new students are welcome to join.

Through hands-on coding tools such as Scratch, Javascript and MIT App Inventor, programmers will design their own games, code robots and address real world challenges using coding. Students will learn about arguments, variables, loops, conditional statements, objects and more. This class is designed for students in the appropriate grade levels. Prior experience with coding is helpful but not required.
