We are considering offering a 3rd grade course for reading enrichment. If you are interested, please sign up for the waitlist. If we have enough demand we will open the class. There is no cost to sign up for the waitlist. 

Reading Enrichment - 3rd Grade Waitlist: Fridays, 10:30-11:15 AM September 18-November 20

Third grade reading enrichment is focused on character study and character development through the exploration of beloved titles such Stuart Little, My Father’s Dragon, The Spiderwick Chronicles and Superfudge. Realistic fiction writing will be incorporated into this course as well. Our course is designed by an experienced literacy teacher, and is based on the Common Core Standards of NJ as well as the Teachers College Reading Curriculum. 

 

Math Enrichment - 2nd Grade Waitlist: Thursdays, 2:30-3:15 PM September 17-November 19

Fall 2020 second grade math students will gain a greater understanding of mathematical concepts in the following areas: base-ten system, multi-digit numbers (up to 1000), developing fluency with subtracting from 100, and understanding more complex addition and subtraction using base tens. Students will use math manipulatives and hands-on materials to gain a greater understanding of number sense, as well as forming addition and subtraction number sentences. First graders will also become word problem detectives to problem solve, applying relevant reading strategies to formulate and solve mathematical problems. All math content is developed by an experienced educator and is based on the Common Core Standards Math Curriculum of NJ for Grade 2.

Students will use math manipulatives and hands-on materials to gain a greater understanding of number sense, as well as forming addition and subtraction number sentences. First graders will also become word problem detectives to problem solve, applying relevant reading strategies to formulate and solve mathematical problems. All math content is developed by an experienced educator and is based on the Common Core Standards Math Curriculum of NJ for Grade 3.
